Sick
I’ve been back at work since Monday, students in class since Tuesday and my wife and daughter have been sick since Sunday with a wicked stomach bug. Thankfully they didn’t get the flu but this has apparently been bad enough, my daughter will prob miss this whole week.
Tomorrow, I’ll be at another day of PD with the theatre teachers in the district so this is like my Friday. On Saturday, we have our yearly DARC club meeting and our annual Spiderweb Salon Winter Formal. I’ve finally been able to get back involved and I’m looking forward to the show!
Since we came back from break, there have been two things that happened that have made me a little thoughtful, one of our ASL interpreters had a stroke on the Saturday before the break and was found by friends on Sunday and two young men, a senior in HS and an 8th grader were killed in a wreck around the corner from my neighborhood. The first thing is an unknown, this woman will probably not be able to work again and will need constant care and rehab until/if she is ever able to return to a normal life, the second is preventable. The intersection where the boys went off the road and into a creek is known to be dangerous, there have been at least three fatal accidents on that corner in the last two years. Because there is a bigger picture plan for the roadway, they have just kept pulling the vehicles out of the creek and replacing the guardrails.
