Mobility
This morning when I got up, I decided to change my plan for the day. I did some work stuff first, ate breakfast and had coffee and then did my workout. I putzed around the house and had lunch, did a bunch of mobility exercises on my arm and my foot and then went for a run. Tuesday means hill repeats and I haven’t really felt that strong running recently, more just going through the motions because I know I need it. Instead of going into days without a clear plan, I’ve been just running and running until I feel done, or the weather changes, and then I head home.
Today, since I had a plan, I went out and did a few miles to warm up and then headed over by Calhoun MS and did about 7 repeats around the campus, up the Mounts Street Hill. Most people, when we do run around Calhoun, take the Denton Street Hill as the big climb but I’m here to tell you that Mounts is far superior in the amount of pain that one can cause oneself for hill repeats. Prettier than the Bryan Street Hill, more interesting than the Denton Street Hill and close enough to make it a quick run home when I’m done. As nice as hitting the TWU parking garage is for hill work, there is something about having a beautiful day and the sun to make repeats not the worst in the world. On top of that, I was feeling strong for the first time in a while, I wasn’t worried about not making my goal for the day and part of it was because I was just running loops around the school. I hit around 6 miles and decided to make my way back home from a solid effort and ended up with 7 miles on the day. More mileage than I necessarily needed but at least I got the work done and feel pretty good after the work was done.
I did a bake this morning on some sourdough that I started yesterday morning, so like 24 hour rise. The loaves turned out beautifully, mottled with spots from the overnight refrigeration that I like to put my full sourdough loaves through to get the most rise out of them. I’m planning to hand off one of them to a SI friend that I ran into on Sunday out mowing lawns with a crew of SI folks that are being put to work.
Tomorrow morning I’m going to get up and workout and then go pickup the kids so we can spend some time together!
